A Writing Project Divination offers live, intuitive insight and strategic support for your creative work. We meet in real time to explore what’s moving beneath the surface—addressing content, structure, direction, and creative blocks—not through conventional critique, but through divinatory insight. Together, we surface possibilities, identify concrete next steps, and chart pathways for positioning your work in the world.
How a Writing Project Divination Works
These sessions offer direct, intuitive insight into your manuscript, creative project, or writing process. Instead of traditional editorial feedback, I use divination to reveal what’s moving beneath the surface.
In a session we might examine issues related to a project’s content development, structure, sequencing, and form, while also addressing creative blocks, direction, and next steps.
Whether you're in the beginning stages of a project, deep in revision, navigating questions of form, or considering publishing, agents, or promotional trajectories—this session can offer strategies and fresh insight to help move work forward.
As part of the booking process, you'll complete an online check-in form where you can share your project details, as well as your specific questions and areas of concern.
There’s no need to submit a manuscript to book this offering. While I do offer private editorial feedback and one-on-one developmental writing sessions, my schedule is currently full, and I’m not taking on new clients at this time.
What do you mean by divination?
Frequently Asked Questions
-
You're welcome to bring your creative work into a regular divination session as many divination sessions trace the rich webbing between life, art, and larger questions.
But Writing Project Divination sessions are distinct: they’re designed to go deep into your creative work. These sessions draw on my decades of experience as a diviner, but also as a writer, editor, and teacher of both writing and divination—including over 20 years of developing Divinatory Poetics, a curriculum that explores the intersection of the oracular and the literary arts.
This is a unique form of divination—one shaped specifically for writers. Sessions often include personalized follow-up materials to help you clarify your direction and move forward with actionable steps.

Yes. I work and collaborate with publicists, publishers, and agents, offering support at multiple stages of the creative and promotional process. This can include manuscript refinement, shaping publicity language, articulating a book’s core vision, or consulting on broader strategies for launch and audience engagement.
What folx are saying—
“Selah has a remarkable ability to grasp a book’s internal logic while charting its outward course. I refer authors to her because I’ve seen how her insight refines manuscripts and helps establish a clearer path to publication.” Another noted: “Selah has an ability to pinpoint what makes a manuscript move—and how to bring language to this. She guided us in envisioning the promotion of our lineup.”
