In this two-hour gathering, we will do just that using a potent two-part oracular/creative framework I’ve been working with and refining for two decades.

Who is this class for?

This class is designed for practitioners, broadly defined, working at any stage of their career, whose work engages care in any form. This includes educators and teachers, therapists, writers, artists, program directors, facilitators, coaches, diviners, nonprofit leaders, healers, publishers, bodyworkers, spiritual directors, counselors, mentors, and creators working across disciplines. It is equally suited for those working in community arts, social change, somatic practice, creative mentorship, spiritual care, or any role that calls us to be in service to others.

  • In Part One of our gathering, we’ll build our throne.

    Working with my framework, the first thing we’ll do is craft the one document that can change everything: your Mission Statement Contract. Think of this as building your throne.

    Your MSC clarifies what you do, why you do it, and how you do it. It organizes your interior sensations into language that can be offered to others as an instructive gift. Your MSC articulates your philosophy-in-action and sets up clear terms and boundaries for how you work with others so that your work can be sustainable.

    The MSC is a compass and a guide: it helps you to discern where you are in any given situation that might arise in your work, and it can help focus and direct your attention, time, energy, and resources toward the most vital dimensions of your work.

  • In Part Two of our gathering, we’ll take our seats.

    Now that you have your throne coming into focus, you’ll experiment with sitting on it: What does it mean to hold continuous communion with your own authority?

    Here, we turn to the work of repairing trust with ourselves and refusing the old posture of the beggar at the gates of her own temple. The vow becomes this: I will not abandon myself at the site of my desire and purpose.

    Guided by our oracular–creative framework, we’ll renew that vow and anchor ourselves in the living structure of our own sovereignty.

About Selah

Selah Saterstrom is a writer and diviner who practices a Southern family-style of card reading and for nearly thirty years, she has offered divinatory guidance within her communities. She is the author of five books, including Ideal Suggestions: Essays in Divinatory Poetics, which has garnered widespread acclaim. A respected consultant and educator, she teaches, lectures, and facilitates workshops and seminars across the United States and internationally. With Kristen E. Nelson, she co-founded Four Queens Divination and co-hosts The Janky Church Podcast. At the heart of Selah’s work is the belief that divination and radical creativity are liberation practices. She lives on Vashon Island in the Pacific Northwest with her wife and daughter.
