At the beginning of each month in 2026, I’m releasing a divinatory talk designed to orient folx to the month’s seasonal energies. That said, these divinations are designed to be enjoyed anytime their themes are up for you. No prior knowledge of tarot is needed. In Praise of Rupture: A Creative Strategy for Writing Where You Are, As You Are
This exercise invites you to turn interruption into a writing method by noticing the ruptures, breaks, and gaps already present in your life. By observing the qualities of an interruption and translating them into directives, you can generate unexpected sentences and new material.
The Case Study
The Case Study is a practice of sustained attention that invites you to closely observe a question, theme, or preoccupation without trying to solve it. Rather than seeking answers, you'll gather images, dreams, fragments, repetitions, observations, and other emergent materials, allowing meaning to arise through accumulation and juxtaposition. This document introduces the practice, offers examples from artist Candy Jernigan's extraordinary archives of observation, and encourages you to create a Case Study in whatever form best supports your inquiry.

The Case Study: I'm a big believer in the Case Study and invite you to do one for the duration of this experience (and beyond!). A Case Study is a generative attention practice and I suspect (promise?!) that you will get a lot of information from this practice.
